What to expect

The North West has a busy pumpkin scene, especially around Manchester, Liverpool and Ormskirk, with a mix of free-entry fields and ticketed farm events. Many grow their own pumpkins and add mazes and play areas. October weekends and the half-term are busiest, so book ahead where a farm uses tickets.

When is the pumpkin picking season?

Pumpkin season in the North West runs through October, opening from the first or second weekend and peaking over the late-October half-term and Halloween. It can be wet, so wellies help; check each farm’s website or Facebook page for this year’s dates first.
