What to expect

The South East has more pumpkin patches than any other UK region, from huge ticketed events to small free-entry village fields. Some farms charge a small entry or parking fee and let you pay per pumpkin; others run timed-ticket events with mazes, tractor rides and food. Most open on October weekends and daily over the half-term, and the busiest weekends sell out, so it is worth booking ahead where a farm uses tickets.

When is the pumpkin picking season?

Pumpkin picking in the South East runs through October, with most patches opening in the first or second week and building to the late-October half-term and Halloween. The pumpkins ripen from late September, but the fields are at their fullest in mid-October. Always check a farm’s own website or Facebook page for this year’s opening dates before you travel.
