What to expect

The South West mixes large, well-known patches with small family fields. Some, like Over Farm and Avon Valley, are big ticketed days out with mazes and entertainment; others, like Trevaskis and Devon Pumpkin Picking, are free to enter so you pay only for what you pick. October weekends and half-term are busiest.

When is the pumpkin picking season?

Pumpkin picking in the South West runs through October, opening from the first weekend and peaking at the late-October half-term and Halloween. A few Dorset and Devon farms had a short or cancelled crop after dry summers, so always check the farm’s own website or Facebook page for this year’s status before travelling.

Are South West patches free to enter?
