Clearwell Farm, at Michaelston-y-Fedw between Newport and Cardiff, runs a large pick-your-own pumpkin event each October known as the Pumpkin Village. The family farm grows tens of thousands of pumpkins on site and builds a themed “village” of life-sized pumpkin scenes around the picking, making it one of the biggest pumpkin days out in South Wales. It is a ticketed event, booked in advance.
About Clearwell Farm
Clearwell is a family farm established in 1911, running across around 200 acres just off junction 28 of the M4. It puts on three big seasonal events through the year: a maize maze and sunflowers in summer, the Pumpkin Village in October, and Christmas trees in winter. The pumpkin event is the autumn highlight, combining a genuine pick-your-own with hand-built themed structures, food and drink and activities for children.
The Pumpkin Village at Clearwell Farm
The farm grows tens of thousands of pumpkins on site, in a wide range of varieties, shapes and colours from classic orange giants to unusual gourds. You pick your own from the field, and the pumpkins are priced separately by size, with the admission ticket covering entry to the village and its activities. The themed pumpkin buildings make it as much a day out as a picking trip, with face painting, crafts and food stalls on site.

Opening Times & Prices
The Pumpkin Village runs through October (in 2025 it opened on 11 October and ran to around 1 November), with daytime and some twilight sessions. All entry is strictly ticketed in advance through the farm’s booking system, so book before you travel. The dates for the coming season had not been published at the time of writing, so check the farm’s website.
We have not been able to confirm this year’s admission prices, so please check the current prices on the booking page; the pumpkins themselves are paid for separately by size. A separate, age-restricted “Harvest of Horrors” scare event runs on some late-October evenings and is not the same as the family daytime visit.

- Accessibility: the ground is uneven and can be muddy, so the farm recommends large-wheeled wheelchairs and dry-day visits, and suggests contacting them for specific needs.
- Dogs: dogs are not permitted during pumpkin picking, as the pumpkins are a food product.
