Maxey’s Farm Shop at Kirklington, near Newark in Nottinghamshire, has run its “Pick Up A Pumpkin” patch since 2012, growing all its pumpkins from seed in a field right next to the shop. You choose and pick your own pumpkins straight from the rows, with weekend extras like a carriage ride, bouncy castle, face painting and a barbecue. About Maxey’s Farm Shop
Maxey’s is a family farm shop at Kirklington, near Newark, where three generations of the Maxey family grow the pumpkins from seed to harvest in a field beside the shop. The “P..P..Pick Up A Pumpkin” patch has been a local favourite since 2012.
Pumpkin Picking at Maxey’s
The pumpkins are grown where you pick them, so you choose your own straight from the field rows, with varieties from miniature to XXL in orange, green, blue and white. Each weekend there are extras such as a carriage ride, bouncy castle, face painting, a barbecue and ice cream. There is a small admission, with the pumpkins paid for separately.

Opening Times & Prices
The patch runs through October (in 2025 from 4 to 31 October, pumpkin and weather permitting). Admission has been £2 per person, with under-16s free, and pumpkins priced separately from around 50p for mini squashes and £2 for pumpkins. No booking is required. The dates for the coming season had not been published at the time of writing.
