Narrowboat Farm is a small market garden beside the Union Canal, a couple of miles east of Linlithgow in West Lothian, that grows its own pumpkins and opens a genuine pick-your-own field each October. Narrowboat Farm is a working micro-farm and market garden on the banks of the Union Canal near Linlithgow, growing vegetables and around 1,000 of its own Jack O’Lantern pumpkins from seed each year, using natural growing practices.
Pumpkin Picking at Narrowboat Farm
You pick your own pumpkins from the field and pay by size (small £3, medium £5, large £7, monster £9). There is no entry fee for picking. A pop-up cafe serves coffee, hot chocolate and pumpkin brownies, free carving workshops run with a pumpkin purchase, and there are optional Halloween canal cruises. As supply is limited (around 1,000 pumpkins), it is worth going earlier in the season.

The patch runs over the October weekends towards Halloween, with timed slots (around 11am, 1pm and 3pm) for carving workshops, which sell out. There is no entry fee to pick; the pumpkins are paid for by size. Carving-workshop slots are pre-booked.
