P. R. Bones & Son, Broadstairs, Kent, South East

P. R. Bones & Son grow their own pumpkins at Buddles Farm in Broadstairs, Kent, and sell them each October from a decorated indoor “Pumpkin Barn”. It is worth being clear up front: this is a barn where you choose from the farm’s own freshly picked pumpkins, rather than a pick-your-own field. Every pumpkin is grown within a few hundred metres of the barn, so it is a genuine farm-grown source close to the Thanet coast.

About P. R. Bones & Son

P. R. Bones & Son is a long-established Kent farm (going back to 1954) at Buddles Farm, near Broadstairs, growing field vegetables and seed crops alongside its autumn pumpkins. The Pumpkin Barn is its seasonal Halloween offering: an indoor, decorated barn filled with the farm’s own pumpkins, gourds and squashes for you to browse and choose from.

The Pumpkin Barn

The pumpkins are grown on the farm and brought into a decorated indoor barn, where you choose your own to take home. It is a “choose from the barn” experience rather than picking from a growing field, which has the advantage of being dry and undercover. There is a good range, from large carving pumpkins to small display varieties and cooking squashes, with prices from around £2.
