Pumpkin picking October half term 2026: patches open, by region

October half term 2026 falls on Monday 26 to Friday 30 October for most schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with some English counties breaking a week earlier (19 to 23 October) and Scottish councils taking their October week mostly in mid-October. It is also the single busiest week of the pumpkin-picking season: patches that open weekends only in early October usually switch to daily opening for half term, timed tickets sell out for the Saturday and Sunday before Halloween, and the biggest farms run evening Halloween events on top.

This page lists the 49 patches that have published 2026 dates covering the half-term week, region by region, with their days, hours and booking rule. 197 more farms in our directory have not announced 2026 dates yet; most will follow the same pattern as last year and we re-check them weekly through October. Always confirm on the farm’s own page before you set off, and book ahead wherever a farm sells timed tickets.

Half-term tips that save a wasted trip

Go early in the week. Monday to Wednesday of half term are far quieter than the Halloween weekend, and the best-shaped pumpkins are picked first.
Book the slot, not just the day. Farms with timed entry release slots weeks ahead and the late-morning slots go first.
Check the weather cut-off. Field patches may close in heavy rain; event farms usually stay open.
Wellies, and check how you pay. Wheelbarrows are usually provided; most farms are card-only now while a few field gates still take cash only. The listing says which where we know it.
