Sompting Pumpkins is a free-entry pick-your-own pumpkin field at Lychpole Farm, Halewick Lane, Sompting, near Lancing and Worthing in West Sussex. You walk the field and pick your own from tens of thousands of pumpkins in many varieties, paying only for what you pick. It is run by the Harriott family, who farm Lychpole Farm, and is now an independent operation.
About Sompting Pumpkins
Sompting Pumpkins is run by Caroline and David Harriott on Lychpole Farm, Halewick Lane, Sompting, just off the A27 near Lancing and Worthing in West Sussex. The family have farmed here for nearly 20 years and now run the pumpkin patch themselves (it was previously operated under the Picking Patch brand).
Pumpkin Picking at Sompting Pumpkins
You walk the field and pick your own from more than 70,000 plants across 15-plus varieties, with free entry and pay only for what you pick. There are craft activities and food and drink on site. Wellies are sensible as it is a working field.
Opening Times & Prices
The patch runs through the second half of October up to Halloween (in 2025, roughly 25 to 31 October, with some earlier weekend dates), 10am to 4pm. Entry is free and you pay only for the pumpkins you pick, with no booking required. The exact dates for the coming season had not been published at the time of writing, so check the farm’s website or Facebook page.
