Rumbler’s Farm Shop, near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, grows its own pumpkins and sets them out each October for you to choose your own. It is worth being clear up front about what to expect: this is a “choose your own” from the farm’s harvested pumpkins, laid out at the shop and in a polytunnel, rather than a pick-it-from-the-field patch. For a friendly, low-key spot to pick out a homegrown pumpkin, though, it is a good local option.
About Rumbler’s Farm Shop
Rumbler’s is a small working farm and farm shop run by the Hilsdon family at Water End, just north of Hemel Hempstead. The shop is known for its raw milk from the farm’s own cows, along with homemade cakes, eggs, bread, meats and seasonal vegetables. The pumpkins are grown on the farm and brought in for the autumn, making it a genuine farm-grown source rather than a reseller.
Pumpkins at Rumbler’s Farm Shop
Each October the farm harvests its pumpkins and displays them at the shop, including in a polytunnel, so you can browse hundreds of pumpkins and pick out your favourites to take home. Because the pumpkins are picked and laid out for you to choose from, rather than left growing in a field for you to cut, it is more of a “choose your own” than a traditional pick-your-own patch. There are usually some hay-bale displays and photo spots to go with it.
