Stoke Fruit Farm Farm Shop, Hayling Island, South East

Stoke Fruit Farm is a fourth-generation family farm and farm shop on Hayling Island in Hampshire, best known for its huge pick-your-own sunflower fields and for the pumpkins it grows on site. It is worth being clear up front: the farm sells its own homegrown pumpkins from the farm shop from mid-October, but we have not been able to confirm that it runs a pick-your-own pumpkin field, so it is best thought of as a place to buy quality local pumpkins rather than to pick them.

About Stoke Fruit Farm

Run by siblings Sam and Nette, Stoke Fruit Farm is a 350-acre family farm on Hayling Island, with a year-round farm shop, free-range egg production and arable crops, plus seasonal visitor attractions. The farm has become a real local destination, particularly for its summer sunflowers, and it grows a substantial pumpkin crop each autumn that appears in the shop in time for Halloween.

Pumpkins at Stoke Fruit Farm

The farm grows around 15,000 pumpkins and squashes each year, in named varieties including Cinderella, Crown Prince, Atlantic Giant, Spaghetti, Acorn and Butternut. These are sold from the farm shop from mid-October, so it is a great spot to pick up an interesting, homegrown pumpkin for carving or cooking. The farm’s own information describes a shop display rather than a pick-your-own pumpkin field, so if picking from the field is important to you, it is worth calling ahead to check what is on offer for the current season.

Sam’s Sunflowers

Stoke Fruit Farm’s headline visitor attraction is Sam’s Sunflowers, described by the farm as one of the largest pick-your-own sunflower fields in the UK. This runs from a separate site nearby and opens in the second half of summer (the farm has advertised a late-July opening), so it is an earlier-season day out rather than part of the autumn pumpkin offer, but it is well worth knowing about if you are planning a visit to the area.

What’s on Offer

  • Homegrown pumpkins and squashes sold from the farm shop from mid-October
  • A year-round farm shop with fresh produce, eggs, meat and pantry goods
  • Sam’s Sunflowers pick-your-own field in the summer (separate site)
  • A milk refill station and other farm-shop extras

Opening Times & Prices

The farm shop is open year-round, Monday to Saturday from 8:30am to 5:30pm and Sunday from 9:30am to 4pm, with pumpkins appearing in the shop from mid-October. We have not been able to confirm pumpkin prices or any dedicated pumpkin-event dates for the coming season, so it is best to check directly with the farm. The sunflower field has its own opening times and prices in the summer.
